Rules of the game
Lotto Max
Rules of the game
LOTTO MAX is governed by the RULES AND REGULATIONS RESPECTING LOTTERIES AND LOTTERY TICKETS of the Interprovincial Lottery Corporation ("ILC") which include limitations of liability.
Each play is comprised of three selections. Each selection is composed of seven numbers from 1 to 50.
You may buy a lottery ticket either through an entirely online transaction or by way of generating a bar code online which will enable a Loto-Québec retailer to register your play(s) and issue a lottery ticket indicating, among other things, the name of the game, the draw date(s), the play(s), the amount wagered and a control number. In the latter case, once the ticket has been issued, verify the information on your ticket and sign it. A purchase transaction is only concluded when it results in the registration of one or more play(s) in Loto-Québec's central computer system. In any case, ONLY PLAYS REGISTERED BY LOTO-QUÉBEC'S CENTRAL COMPUTER SYSTEM PARTICIPATE IN THE GAME.
On each draw date, or as soon as possible after that date, ILC will cause seven main numbers and one bonus number to be drawn at random among all numbers from 1 to 50.
Winning selections as a result of a draw are determined as follows:
- 3/7: 3 of the main numbers
- 3/7+B: 3 of the main numbers and the bonus number
- 4/7: 4 of the main numbers
- 4/7+B: 4 of the main numbers and the bonus number
- 5/7: 5 of the main numbers
- 5/7+B: 5 of the main numbers and the bonus number
- 6/7: 6 of the main numbers
- 6/7+B: 6 of the main numbers and the bonus number
- 7/7: the 7 main numbers
ILC determines, from time to time, a prize structure. The amount of each prize as a result of a draw is calculated in accordance with the prize structure in force. Only one prize per winning selection.
All free plays won following an online purchase are automatically issued for the draw following the one for which they were won.
Changes will be made to Lotto Max starting with the April 14, 2026, draw.

The difference is added to the 6/7+B pool.

Lotto 6/49
LOTTO 6/49 is governed by the RULES AND REGULATIONS RESPECTING LOTTERIES AND LOTTERY TICKETS of the Interprovincial Lottery Corporation ("ILC"), which include limitations of liability.
Each play is composed of one selection of six numbers from 1 to 49 (the “Classic Selection”) and one “Gold Ball Draw Number”.
Each Gold Ball Draw Number is a unique computer-generated 10-digit number (XXXXXXXX-XX).
For the Gold Ball Draw Number(s), a segmented group of numbers is assigned to each of the five Canadian lottery corporations. In addition, these numbers are issued in sequence. For example, when a lottery ticket is composed of several plays, the first eight digits of the number remain the same, and the last two digits range from 01 to the number of plays purchased (67890123-01, 67890123-02, 67890123-03, etc.).
When a lottery ticket is composed of three or more Lotto 6/49 plays, the Gold Ball Draw Numbers are shown as a range. For example, if you buy 10 Lotto 6/49 plays on the same lottery ticket, you will get 10 Classic Selections and 10 Gold Ball Draw Numbers, which will be indicated on your lottery ticket as follows:
DE : 67890123-01
À : 67890123-10
You may buy a lottery ticket either through an entirely online transaction or by way of generating a bar code online, which will enable a Loto-Québec retailer to register your play(s) and issue a lottery ticket indicating, among other things, the name of the game(s), the draw date(s), the Classic Selection(s), the Gold Ball Draw Number(s), the amount wagered and a control number. Once the ticket has been issued, verify the information on your ticket and sign it. A purchase transaction is only concluded when it results in the registration of one or more play(s) in Loto-Québec’s central computer system. In any case, ONLY PLAYS REGISTERED BY LOTO-QUÉBEC’S CENTRAL COMPUTER SYSTEM PARTICIPATE IN THE GAME.
On each draw date, or as soon as possible after that date, the ILC will cause six numbers and one bonus number to be drawn at random from among all numbers from 1 to 49 (“Classic Draw”). Furthermore, one Gold Ball Draw Number is drawn at random from among all those that have been issued for that draw (“Gold Ball Draw”). This number allows a participant to win either the Gold Ball Jackpot or a $1,000,000 prize. The value of this prize is determined by the “Gold Ball Jackpot Draw.” If a white ball is drawn, the prize won is $1,000,000, and that ball is withdrawn from subsequent Gold Ball Jackpot Draws until the Gold Ball is drawn. If the Gold Ball is not drawn, the Gold Ball Jackpot increases in the next draw by an amount determined by the ILC. When the Gold Ball is drawn, 29 white balls, each corresponding to a $1,000,000 prize, and one Gold Ball will be available in the next Gold Ball Draw, and the preceding process will be repeated.
Winning selections as a result of a draw are determined as follows:
CLASSIC DRAW
- 2/6: 2 of the main numbers
- 2/6+B: 2 of the main numbers and the bonus number
- 3/6: 3 of the main numbers
- 4/6: 4 of the main numbers
- 5/6: 5 of the main numbers
- 5/6+B: 5 of the main numbers and the bonus number
- 6/6: all 6 main numbers
GOLD BALL DRAW
- The complete number (10 digits)
A winning Gold Ball Draw Number is one whose number is identical to the Gold Ball Draw Number drawn.
The amount of each prize, as a result of a draw, is calculated in accordance with the prize structure then in force.
Only one prize per winning selection. All free plays won following an online purchase are automatically issued for the draw following the one for which they were won.

Online group
Pooled shares
- ONLINE GROUP enables you to pool your selections with those of the other members of your group for one or more lottery products and/or draws.
- The group's creator determines the configuration of the group's shares. One share corresponds to a predetermined number of selections and/or plays for the following product(s), to which one or more Extra numbers can be added for one or more draws:
- LOTTO MAX: one or more plays, each comprising 3 selections of 7 numbers and costing $5
- QUÉBEC MAX: one or more plays, each comprising 3 selections of 7 numbers and costing $2
- LOTTO MAX + QUÉBEC MAX (Double Jeu Max): Each play applies to both a Lotto Max and Québec Max draw on the same date, at a cost of $7.
- LOTTO 6/49: one or more plays, each comprising one 6-number regular selection and one selection for the guaranteed prize draw, at a cost of $3
- QUÉBEC 49: one or more plays, each comprising one 6-number selection at a cost of $1
- LOTTO 6/49 + QUÉBEC 49 (Double Jeu 49): The same 6-number selection for each play applies to both the Lotto 6/49 and Québec 49 draws on the same date, at a cost of $4. The selection for the guaranteed prize draw on each play only applies to the Lotto 6/49 draw.
The cost of each play or selection described above is the cost for one draw, or in the case of Double Jeu Max or Double Jeu 49, the cost for both draws on the same date. Each Extra number adds $1 to the cost per draw.
Games are subject to applicable rules and regulations.
- The group creator also chooses the maximum number of shares in the group (from 2 to 100). Both the creator and any other person wishing to join the group must purchase at least one share, which is then added to the group. Each group member may choose the numbers for the selections and/or plays he/she adds to the group or take the automatic selection option.
- Due to the way groups evolve, the final number of shares is only confirmed when the deadline of wagers and corresponds to the actual number of shares sold, whether or not the maximum has been reached.
